Therapy that Works Institute presents
Salzburg Dialogues:
The Future of Psychotherapy
"The field is rapidly evolving. Be in the room."
3-Day Main Conference | 2-Day Pre-Conference | Historic Palace Venue
The world has changed. So have the challenges our clients bring to us. Psychotherapy has a real role to play in these times — but only if we're willing to do the hard work of evolving.
The Salzburg Dialogues is where our field comes to do that work: to be honest about where we are and deliberate about where we need to go.
It takes place inside Leopoldskron Palace — the historic Salzburg palace where The Sound of Music was filmed, and one of the most remarkable settings in Europe.
Every session and meal takes place inside the palace. No shuttles, no conference hotels — you're immersed in one of Europe's most storied buildings from the moment you arrive.
Through keynotes, live demonstrations, and small-group discussions, you'll engage with the ideas reshaping our field alongside colleagues from around the world.
And when the formal sessions end, the retreat continues. Stay overnight inside the palace or on the surrounding property, and let the beauty and magic of Salzburg revitalize and inspire you.
3-Day Main Conference
April 1-3, 2027

Conference Workshops Include:
All attendees attend all workshops.
-
Redefining Our Purpose in an Era of Uncertainty: Self-actualization, happiness, and symptom reduction are no longer sufficient goals for 21st-century therapy. This session reexamines the fundamental purpose of psychotherapy in a world that has fundamentally changed.
-
The Therapy that Works® Unifying Framework with Live Client Demonstration: An elegant, practical roadmap for integrating 50+ clinical theories and the full evidence base into a single, coherent approach — demonstrated live with a real client.
-
Depolarizing Conversations in a Polarized World: How do you work therapeutically across seemingly unbridgeable divides? Learn to facilitate meaningful dialogue in relationships fractured by polarization.
-
Shifting the Trauma Narrative: Popular discourse and collective trauma have radically recontextualized what it means to be traumatized. This session examines how our clinical methods must evolve to meet this new reality.
-
Couples Therapy with High-Conflict Couples: Drawing from the research base and the Unifying Framework, walk away with concrete strategies for assessing, planning, and intervening with the couples who exhaust us most.
-
AI and Ethics in Mental Health — AI is already embedded in your EHR. Clients are getting psychoeducation from ChatGPT. This session examines what that means for clinical ethics, the therapeutic relationship, and your role going forward.
This international seminar is limited to 125 participants — fewer than 1% of those invited. Expect the kind of substantive professional connections that simply don't happen in a convention center.
