Flexible Scheduling that Works for Everyone
- Join 2-3 live sessions per month, offered on weekends and evenings: Choose between the Spring Cohort (February - June) or Fall Cohort (September - January)
- Choose to do all hours at your own pace with video-on-demand or join the live sessions.
- No matter what your schedule is or where you live on the globe, you can attend live sessions regularly.
- Live sessions will be offered on weekends and weeknights to accommodate every schedule.
Curriculum
The program includes 7 modules:
Module 1: Get Yourself Together - Self-of-the-Practitioner
- Develop comprehensive self-care and master goal-setting to reduce burnout and countertransference
- Learn motivational psychology principles that help both you and your clients achieve goals
Module 2: Collaborative Connecting
- Master a simple approach to creating therapeutic relationships using neurobiology and collaborative practices
- Learn to facilitate transformative conversations that honor your clients' humanity
Module 3: The Viewing (Case Conceptualization & Assessment)
- Learn a comprehensive yet easy-to-use conceptualization approach that works with individuals, couples, and families
- Develop a framework that seamlessly connects multiple theoretical perspectives
Module 4: Evidence-Informed Treatment Planning
- Understand what research says about what works with most presenting issues in outpatient settings
- Know when to use your theory of choice versus an evidence-informed approach
Module 5: The Doing (Interventions)
- Learn and practice interventions for 95% of common outpatient concerns
- Draw from CBT, DBT, emotionally focused, narrative, solution-focused, structural, systemic, and trauma-focused therapies
Module 6: Ending Well - How to Create Enduring Change
- Use narrative and solution-focused therapy to solidify lasting change
- Craft resilient identity narratives that support clients in all areas of life
Module 7: Income and Career Building
- Identify ways to increase your income while creating a career path you love
- Includes bonus videos on affiliate income opportunities and building your practice
Learning Objectives
At the end of the program, participants will be able to:
1. Use mini-habits and similar techniques to achieve 1-2 personal goals that will improve their clinical effectiveness.
2. Facilitate collaborative dialogue using dialogic curiosity to carefully track how clients make sense of their lives and identify new possibilities for change.
3. Effectively implement a single 4-level assessment approach that incorporates systemic, CBT, EFT, and narrative theories to quickly assess clients' core issues, whether working with individuals, couples, or families.
4. Develop targeted treatment plans using the evidence and research base, knowing when to use a specific approach vs. when to use one's theory of choice.
5. Know how to flexibly draw from a range of interventions to enable individual clients to manage depression/anxiety and trauma symptoms, drawing from CBT, trauma-informed, postmodern, and systemic theories.
6. Intervene using different styles of enactment and relational coaching to help couples and families re-establish secure attachment and authentic connection.
7. Help clients maintain the gains from therapy using narrative and solution-focused interventions that solidify identities and habits that support goal maintenance.
CE Approval: This course has been approved for 45 hours of continuing education by the NBCC and CAMFT.
Therapy that Works Institute programs are offered for NBCC credit (NBCC ACEP No. 7125).
Therapy that Works Institute (Provider #1000141) is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and LEPs.
Therapy that Works Institute maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.
Course CE certificates will be awarded via email within 24 hours upon completion of all course modules, course quiz, and course evaluation.
